Science and Innovation 2026
The Portuguese Science Summit Innovation 2026 will mark the Agency for Research and Innovation’s (AI²) first major event.
It will serve as a forum for a broad national debate on AI²’s strategic priorities, which will guide the development of the national science and innovation ecosystem in the coming decades.
It will bring together the scientific community, the business sector, and European partners in a space intended for reflection and collaborative creation, with the aim of shaping the future of research and innovation in Portugal—a process in which everyone’s participation is essential.

This first Science and Innovation Conference is taking place at a very special time.
With the official launch of AI², we have the opportunity to think, plan, and build together the next decades of science, technology, innovation, and competitiveness in our country.
The creation of AI² reflects the ambition to build an agency capable of bringing together researchers, higher education institutions, companies, entrepreneurs, public policymakers, and civil society around three common goals: to generate more knowledge, to create more value, and to place science and innovation at the heart of Portugal’s cultural, social, and economic development.
