Three days have flown by. The Portuguese Science Summit ended last Friday, the 5th, and the balance is very positive.
The Alfândega do Porto Congress Centre building was set up, ready for the opening, with a network of spaces full of life and ready to welcome the 3230 people registered for what is the main meeting of the scientific community in our country. Health Under the motto "+Science for One Health and global well-being" [+Science for One Health and global well-being], the aim of the meeting was to showcase and leverage today's science for the future of global health and well-being that we want tomorrow.
The teams from FCT, the University of Porto and Ciência Viva arrived at the site well before the opening. The serenity of the Douro contrasted with the hustle and bustle of assembly. Is schedule in order? Does the exhibition have all the necessary equipment? Are the audiovisuals in the rooms working perfectly? Everything worked like clockwork. And at 8:30 a.m. on July 3, we opened the doors and had the check-in ready to welcome everyone.
There were 2057 entries. 1021 scientific e-posters were received and exhibited. Encouraging figures in what was the second decentralized edition of Portuguese Science Summit 2024. Plenaries at the start and end of the day, which were always very busy, and more than 40 themed sessions. In addition, the Science and Technology exhibition featured almost 40 entities, including CoLAB, Associated Laboratories and Technology and Interface Centers.
It was three days of (re)meeting, debate and discussion in the most diverse areas of scientific activity. We shared results, knowledge and experiences. Portuguese Science Summit It was an event by everyone for everyone.
